#108 Building a Culture of Accommodation

In the workplace, an ethos of accommodation is necessary to ensure that individuals with a mental or physical health impairment are provided with the appropriate supports at all levels to ensure their successful participation in employment. This is the first critical step towards effective long-term disability inclusion which fully integrates individuals with disabilities, not as an exception or special effort, but as a rule and general practice. Several best practices and internationally recognized disability management strategies, policies and programs have been developed to support employers across Canada and internationally in achieving equitable accommodations for workers.
