The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) was introduced in 2005 with the goal of making Ontario accessible for people with disabilities by 2025. With that date fast approaching, where are we now? This progressive legislation has been setting regulations and deadlines for employers to implement standards affecting customer service, employment, information, and communication, and more. Learn what’s new in accessibility legislation, compliance requirements, and best practices. This presentation will share resources to help guide employers to identify, remove, and prevent barriers, and create more inclusive workplaces and communities. The impact of the Accessible Canada Act (2019) and related legislation will also be discussed.
Speaker(s): Mary Neilans, Accessibility and Aging Well Consultant; Founder, AIM for Inclusion
