Individuals get hired for their IQ and are most often fired because they don't have EQ. Why do smart people fail? Why do technically brilliant individuals have trouble managing others and collaborating on a team?
It is not because they lack traditional intelligence or technical skills. Far from it. What they lack is a critical level of Emotional Intelligence (EI) and the ability to manage their own emotions and those of others' when they are under pressure.
A key HR responsibility is to help identify the talent, skills and attitudes required to contribute to organizational effectiveness. This includes understanding the competencies an organization needs to flourish in the age of massive change and disruption. Understanding EI not only contributes to the personal development of learners – HR and organizational leaders and managers alike – it also provides a model for building more effective employee development, engagement and performance management conversations.
In this two-day seminar, attendees will learn how to lead more effectively by applying emotional intelligence and relational skills.
Learning objectives:
- Build self-awareness, emotional management and emotional connection skills to build your own effective leadership style
- Learn how to integrate these skills into your recruitment and selection approach, performance management processes and management systems
- Understand how this framework helps you better assess these capabilities as part of the hiring process
- Identify behaviours correlated with the top 10% of performers
- Understand how you, your team and potential candidates respond to pressure, and what to do about it.
Who should attend?
HR professionals at the supervisor, manager, director and executive level who are responsible for managing a team or who are responsible for any part of the organization's recruitment and selection; performance management, training and development; or succession planning processes.

Important:
Please note that participants are required to complete an EI360™ Assessment PRIOR to the course start date.
The EI360™ Assessment is a web-enabled, multi-evaluator tool that offers a powerful way to assess individual strengths and developmental needs in the core competencies of Emotional Intelligence (EI). The purpose of the assessment is to enable the participant to receive honest feedback that will provide them with a place to open dialog and begin their developmental journey.
