Employees' Retention Strategies: FROM JOB POSTING TO TWO-WEEK NOTICE AND EVERY STEP IN BETWEEN

First step: How to Attract the Right Person for the Right Job. What to look for during a resume screening and an interview process. The participants will learn a different perspective on behaviour during the hiring process, recognize the set of skills that is really needed and if the candidate has these skills or able to develop them. 

Second step: How to Keep Employees Engaged? What keeps Employees motivated? Participants will learn about types of motivations, pros and cons for each type, and how to create and keep an engaging and motivating environment at the workplace.

Third step: Letting Go. Letting the wrong person go sometimes might be the best retention strategy. Participants will learn how to recognize the wrong person, analyze the damaging effect, and make the firing process as less stressful as possible for all the parties involved.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Clarity around strategy at every step of a person's employment: what stage of employment (search and hire, onboarding, experienced employee, offboarding) currently needs the most attention and recourses in the organization and will have the biggest impact on retention.
  • Best practices for recognizing reasons why people leave the organization or why they stay, collecting relevant data and using it for more effective outcomes.
  • Effects of prolonged stress, created by the pandemic, on retention and what are the necessary changes in talent management that might help to deal with the negative impact.

Jenny Barkan, ACC, is a certified business coach specializing in Leadership Skills Development and Creation of Employee Experience. She holds degrees in Law and Psychology & Management, but her passion always was to help people live better lives at work and outside of work. That is why she received formal training as a Life and Business Coach at Erickson Coaching International Institute, Vancouver, and became a member of the International Coaching Federation. Jenny is a big supporter of science-based coaching and often shares the latest developments in neuroscience during her webinars and training. In her spare time, she is a devoted dog mom, a bit of a bookworm and a wine lover.
