This informative session covers the 4 behavioural indicators of High Conflict Personalities (HCPs) in the workplace, the dark tetrad of personality dimensions and their toxic impact on team and organizational culture, as well as the behaviour management techniques needed to effectively communicate with HCPs.

Learning Objectives:

In attending this learning lab, HR professionals will gain the necessary foundational knowledge to:

1. Detect indicators of High Conflict Personalities in the workplace by knowing & recognizing the 4 behavioural patterns of all HCPs.

2. Advise organizational leaders on the Do’s & Don’ts for working with HCPs.

3. Effectively communicate with HCPs & manage HCP behaviours in the organizational context.

Speaker bio(s)
Dr. E.M. (Ted) Vokes

Ted has a Specialized Honours B.A. in Psychology from York University and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Applied Social Psychology (specialization in Industrial/ Organizational Psychology) from the University of Windsor. His practical leadership and managerial experience includes serving as Second in Command of an Air Force officer candidate training school and as Executive Director of a mental health centre undertaking a radical transition. He has over 25 years of experience as an in-house and external consultant, trainer and facilitator to a diverse range of private, public and government organizations. Currently Ted is in private practice specializing in leadership development, executive coaching, culture assessment, adaptive strategic planning, mediation and dispute resolution, cultural competence, prevention of workplace violence, and organizational change management. In this role he has designed and facilitated over 300 process consultation interventions with executives, management teams, committees and boards of directors, and conducted over 700 workshops in support of change, and development initiatives. Ted is an Adjunct Professor with the University of Windsor and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Psychology and Odette School of Business in the M.B.A. and Masters of Management programs of the Centre for Executive and Professional Education.
