In today's complex, diverse, and interconnected workplaces, success depends on our ability to recognize differences, navigate them thoughtfully and respond with agility. In Canada, where multiculturalism is a strength but polarization is also on the rise, HR professionals are uniquely positioned to help organizations navigate these dynamics and create environments where people and teams can adapt, collaborate and thrive. This session introduces cultural intelligence as a practical capability for understanding ourselves, recognizing cultural nuances and building trust in diverse contexts. Participants will explore how culture, values and norms shape communication, behaviour and decision-making and gain practical tools and strategies for navigating intercultural contexts, strengthening relationships and working more effectively across teams, functions, and geographies.
Learning Objectives
- This session will increase self and other cultural awareness by exploring how values, norms, and lived experiences shape perspectives and behaviours in the workplace.
- Participants will examine common sources of misunderstanding, such as communication styles, decision-making, hierarchy, and work expectations, that often impact employee experience and team dynamics.
- They will also explore strategies and tools to enhance cultural intelligence, strengthen relationships, reduce friction, and support HR professionals in fostering collaboration, engagement, and effectiveness across diverse teams and organizational contexts.
