Workforce sustainability and organizational effectiveness require HR to think differently in a hyper-competitive employment paradigm, especially regarding workplace stress and mental health. Your people are the barometer for the health of your organization; They are the canaries; Your workplace is the metaphorical coal mine. Are you listening to what your employees are saying (or not saying, but are showing) about workplace stress, or are you solely relying on their personal resilience to carry them through?
Learning objectives:
- Examine the common causes of workplace stress and reflect on the benefits of resilience in dealing with workplace stress
- Understand the importance of addressing root causes to deal with workplace stress & support employee health versus relying on resilience alone, including understanding principles of job design and organizational culture and climate that can be used to address root causes and mitigate workplace stress
- Share best practices for reducing workplace stress based on the understanding that personal resilience is not, and should not be, the only answer to mitigating workplace stress and promoting positive mental health.
