We get thrown a lot of challenges as HR professionals - especially these last few years. How do you react to them? According to research, your response is at least in part determined by your mindset. People with a growth mindset tend to believe that who we are and what we're capable of can be developed with time and effort, and challenges give us opportunities for learning and growth. People with a fixed mindset, on the other hand, assume that our capabilities are pretty much determined and finite, and that the end of the day, we are who we are and there's not much we can do about it. When we have a fixed mindset, it has a big impact on how we think about talent in our organizations - how we hire, how we develop, and how we manage performance and how we think about feedback in general. We also know from research that a fixed mindset undermines our ability to push through challenging situations - especially when we believe we don't already have the skills to handle them. On the other hand, when we believe we have the power to develop our capabilities (a Growth Mindset), we value effort and focus on attention on improvement. In this experiential workshop, we'll explore mindsets together and create strategies and plans for how to model, celebrate and enable a growth mindset for yourself, those you lead and those you support.
