Toronto: 06.06.18 PD Dinner Event From Unconscious Bias to Inclusive Leadership
Research demonstrates that simply gaining awareness of unconscious bias is not enough. Individuals must not only learn about biases, they must also be equipped with tools to interrupt biases by behaving in an inclusive manner. Join Vandana Juneja, Senior Director, Canada & Asia-Pacific, Catalyst to explore unconscious bias through the following: awareness of unconscious bias and stereotypes, to acceptance of our own biases, to paying attention or monitoring the impact biases and stereotypes can have on individuals and the organization, and finally, to intentional action or inclusive leadership behaviours that can help to interrupt or mitigate bias and create an inclusive workplace where employees demonstrate greater innovation and team citizenship.
Building on Catalyst’s leading research on inclusive leadership, this interactive session guides you through lively discussion to:
- Understand and reflect on the deeply embedded unconscious biases / stereotypes within all of us, and learn why these biases are problematic for individuals and the organization.
- Learn how biases can be mitigated or interrupted through culture change, via intentional change in behavior. This includes an examination of the traits of an inclusive leader that lead to greater innovation and citizenship in employees.
