Fundamentally the act of coaching involves two people but sometimes this notion is overtaken by the eagerness to impart knowledge and skills whether preparing a person for a future role or accelerating onboarding in a recently assumed role. It can't be understated that the success of a coaching relationship will depend on the relationship that exists between the partners. Understanding each other's fundamental drives and needs will go a long way to accurately reading behaviours, leveraging mutual strengths and anticipating the human challenges that will inevitably arise through the course of a coaching journey. Such necessary coaching activities as providing critical feedback, giving direction, enforcing expectations, and even delivering praise will all be received very differently depending on the recipient as well as in the manner delivered. Both of these considerations are fundamentally a function of one's innate behaviours and drives or their "wiring." The 5E Coaching framework begins with participants understanding each other as a basis for supporting partner interactions and culminates with identifying behavioural targets to be included in the coaching plan. This presentation is intended to provide insight into how organizations, and particularly can lead effective coaching initiatives in a variety of talent strategy activities including recruiting, onboarding, employee engagement, conflict management and and succession planning.

In this workshop, participants will:

  1. Understand how mutual awareness contributes to coaching relationship success
  2. How understanding a person's natural behaviours and drives provides insight into coaching for better job fit
  3. Participate in a simulation of the 5E Coaching Framework using their own optional behaviour assessment

A “no show/late cancellation” fee will be charged if cancellation is not provided to chaptercancellations@hrpa.ca at least 3 business days in advance.

Registrations will NOT be accepted at the door.
