Melina Gillies, CHRL, is Chief People and Experience Officer at FlexNetworks. Her presentation will empower HR professionals to take on the role of change-makers by providing a comprehensive understanding of how Generative AI is reshaping the HR landscape. Participants will learn how to apply AI-driven tools to streamline HR processes, improve decision-making, and enhance strategic alignment with organizational goals. The session will also explore strategies for gaining organizational buy-in and effectively sponsoring AI implementation, ensuring successful adoption and integration across teams. Maciej Lipinski JD, PhD is a practicing lawyer focusing on employment law and is the Principal and Founder of The Process Legal. He has a background as a research psychologist studying how technologies change interpersonal dynamics. Maciej will speak to the “AI for HR Practitioners” topic with a legal, privacy and policy lens to provide helpful guidance as we navigate the challenges of AI in the workplace. Maciej’s presentation will provide practical guidance from a legal lens, while also delving into ways to anticipate and make human-centered workplace adaptations to the changing ways we interact with technology.

The session empowers HR practitioners to become proactive strategic partners by equipping them with knowledge of AI’s potential and limitations, along with best practices for ethical and legal implementation. It directly relates to the HR function by addressing how AI can augment key HR responsibilities, including talent acquisition, training, and organizational development. By the end of the session, attendees will understand how to integrate Generative AI solutions into their workflows, positioning themselves as innovative leaders in their organizations while maintaining a human-centered approach to workforce management and ensuring they do so mindful of potential legal implications.

Maciej Lipinski, JD, PhD is a lawyer, mediator, and workplace coach. His current work includes workplace cultural assessment, mediation and dispute resolution, and employment legal counsel. He is the Principal and Founder of The Process Legal, author of published research on the psychology of online communications, and the co-author of the Ontario Employment Standards Act: Quick Reference and An Educator’s Guide to the Role of the Principal (3rd Edition).
