Mental Illness is currently a leading cause of disability globally. The workplace relies on healthy minded individuals, hence why improving the overall mental health of your employees is so important. Not everyone is comfortable talking about mental illness or completely understands it. The stigma of mental illness continues to plague society ad it's time to break down barriers and talking more about it. Using recent stories of people suffering and research Lisa has uncovered, she will highlight the signs and symptoms of common mental illnesses and demonstrate how anyone can make an immediate difference to those suffering. As HR professionals it's important to understand how mental well-being can impact an employee's performance and relationship with other colleagues and when and where to offer support. Being able to have empathetic conversations with staff about their mental health will reduce the negative impact that can be created due to unawareness.

What you will learn: 

As HR professionals learn more about mental health, how it impacts employees and reducing the stigma through increased empathy and understanding the workplace becomes more productive. The culture of a healthy workplace is improved which leads to lower turnover and higher productivity.

Lisa Lounsbury, Director

Lisa Lounsbury is the President and Founder of New Day Wellness Inc. and the Producer and Host of TV & Podcast Show called "Your Wellness". She has utilized her 30 years in the fitness and wellness industry to develop the New Day Wellness mission of "Bringing Health to Health and Safety" and "Making Wellness a Priority". As an International Speaker, a National Mental Health First Aid Trainer, a Nutrition and Wellness Specialist and a Certified Group Fitness & Personal Trainer, Lisa works with a variety of companies and organizations to motivate and educate employees on the importance of good mental health and wellness. When she is not representing New Day Wellness Inc., Lisa is also a part-time College Professor, an international fitness leader for NRG2G0, a Competitive Tap Dancer, a Rotarian and is most proud of being a wife and mother of three grown children. Over the past few years, Lisa has noticed a positive shift when it comes to a healthy workplace culture, but there is still much more work to do.
