This interactive webinar provides participants with a front-row seat to an interactive arbitration simulation.

As the simulation unfolds, participants will have the opportunity to observe the arbitration process in action, choose which side they wish to represent, and engage in key moments to offer feedback, ask questions, and discuss strategies.

This hands-on learning experience allows participants to deepen their understanding of the arbitration process, learn communication and negotiation skills from seasoned professionals, and gain insights into how both sides can effectively present cases at arbitration and negotiate solutions.

By the end of this session, participants will not only understand the mechanics of an arbitration hearing but also learn how to navigate workplace disputes with professionalism and confidence.

To prepare for this webinar, participants are asked to be familiar with the following:

- principles of unjust dismissal and relevant case law;

- K.V.P test regarding workplace rules; and

- the grievance arbitration process in Ontario.

Learning Objectives:

Understand the Arbitration Process: Observe and analyze the key stages of arbitration, including case presentation, questioning, and decision-making, with insights from experienced facilitators.

Critically Evaluate Arbitration Techniques: Learn to identify effective communication and negotiation strategies used by both management and union representatives during the simulation, and discuss ways to improve them.

Reflect on the Decision-Making Process: Learn to assess the potential outcomes of arbitration based on the arguments and evidence presented, and understand how an arbitrator weighs different factors in making a decision.
