This presentation will introduce members of Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership (SLEP), outline each of our roles within our community’s taskforce on immigration attraction and settlement, how SLEP can assist HR practitioners with DEI initiatives, and highlight ways SLEP partners with employers to support immigration, settlement, and retention in the area.

Legal counsel Stephane Thiffeault will share information on legal considerations to take into consider when hiring newcomers including human rights considerations, offers of employment and contract language. We hope you will join us for this important session!

Cari Meloche

Cari attracts talent and entrepreneurs to the Sarnia-Lambton community. She connects with business leaders to understand specific hiring needs and offers a variety of tactics to enhance recruitment practices. Over the last 4 years, Cari has connected with over 4,000 job seekers who would consider relocating to the Sarnia-Lambton area. Cari is well connected to regional community partners and federal immigration programs that provide a skilled talent pool to attract new residents. She has worked for over 15 years in the field of Human Resources and truly understands the importance of developing a strong workforce. She has been proud to have created and led local programs such as the Sarnia-Lambton Apprenticeship Project and the Bridging Global Talent in Sarnia-Lambton Project, both aimed at attracting and retaining local talent.

Dorian Noble

Dorian, Project Coordinator of the Newcomer Connection Program with the Economic Partnership, brings a wealth of experience in multiple sectors, including commercial real estate, property management, and community engagement. All of which go a long way in contributing to the overall success of economic development. With a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business & Trade from Florida Atlantic University, Dorian is an excellent communicator who can deliver insightful presentations and build strong relationships with business partners and community leaders. Dorian is also an active member of the Sarnia-Lambton Immigration Taskforce and sits on both the Community Immigration Network and the Employment / Economic Immigration Committees. Dorian is also the Chair of the Women’s Interval Home Board of Directors, Dorian is committed to supporting the organization’s Vision, Mission, and Values and making a positive impact on the lives of women and children in our community.

Stephane Thiffeault

Stephane Thiffeault is a lawyer and is the Chief Administrative Officer at The Corporation of the County of Lambton. He graduated from the University of Ottawa’s LL.B. program and started his career in Toronto, Ontario at the law firm of McMillan Binch LLP where he practiced labour and employment law until 2007. He has since practiced law in the public and private sectors and has occupied senior management/executive positions including that of Chief Privacy Officer and Compliance Officer with responsibilities in Canada, the United States and the Republic of Singapore. He has coached a number of local youth soccer and hockey teams and has served on the boards of a number community organizations.
