HRPA North Bay will be holding their Annual Business Meeting followed by a Legal update & Covid-19 update.

Charles (Chuck )Hofley and Melissa Bastarache are lawyers with Hicks Morley, Canada’s largest firm focusing on the representation of management in human resources law and advocacy.  They both work in Hicks Morley’s Ottawa office.

During their presentation, they will provide an employment and labour law update on this year’s most talked-about issues, including the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the workplace. Other topics of discussion will include the top 10 employment/labour decisions of the year and an overview of recent cause/without cause termination decisions.

CANCELLATION POLICY:  ALL cancellations MUST be received in writing, 3 business days in advance of the event, to chaptercancellations@hrpa.ca.  Registration fees are 100% non-refundable after that time. If it is a complimentary event, a $30 no-show fee invoice will be issued to those registrants who do not attend and have not provided the required notice. Cancellation Deadline is Mon. May 11/20.

Melissa Bastarache

Melissa Bastarache is a labour and employment lawyer in Hicks Morley’s Ottawa office. She practices in all areas of labour and employment law, where she provides advice and representation to employers on issues such as termination and wrongful dismissals, occupational safety, worker’s compensation, accommodation and human rights. Melissa also assists employers with drafting and reviewing employment contracts, workplace policies, and confidentiality, non-solicitation and non-competition agreements.

Charles Hofley

Charles Hofley is a senior labour and employment lawyer in Hicks Morley’s Ottawa office who maintains a fully bilingual practice. He has over 25 years of experience advising private and public sector employers on a broad range of employment and labour matters, including restructuring, closures, terminations, collective agreement negotiation/administration, strike and injunction preparation, human rights and social service matters. Charles is an experienced negotiator and regularly appears before boards of arbitration, administrative tribunals and all levels of court. He is a frequent speaker at conferences and seminars on current issues in labour and employment law.
