Presentation on what HR Students, New Professionals and Newly-Certified Graduates can expect as they determine how to secure their first HR role. They will hear about various topics including the necessary homework to be done, the strategies to develop, the pitfalls to avoid, as they navigate this journey. Following this, there will be a  moderated panel discussion with Recent Grads who will briefly share their experiences on how they successfully secured their first HR role.

During registration, please consider the donation option. Donated funds collected through this event registration will be equally divided between Indspire and Black Youth Helpline, preferred charities identified by HRPA members in a recent survey.

CANCELLATION POLICY:  ALL cancellations MUST be received in writing, 3 business days in advance of the event, to chaptercancellations@hrpa.ca.  Registration fees are 100% non-refundable after that time. If it is a complimentary event, a $30 no-show fee invoice will be issued to those registrants who do not attend and have not provided the required notice. Cancellation Deadline is Tues. Feb. 16/21

Bernadette De Souza, Certified Professional Coach

With over 30 years as a senior executive in the government, not-for-profit and international sectors, Bernadette’s career has focused on leading and implementing major transformational initiatives. Skilled in strategic planning, she is a genuine people leader and motivator, inspiring all levels of professionals while grooming and nurturing diverse talents. In the past, Bernadette was an international diplomat with the United Nations New York, Rome, Washington D.C., and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. She studied Business and International Relations and Organizational Management at George Washington and Georgetown Universities respectively in Washington D.C. She is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School Executive Program and the Ivey School of Business Leadership Program. Bernadette is a Certified Professional Coach and Management Consultant, specializing in Executive, Career Transition and Life Coaching. She is a skilled facilitator and conducts strategic business planning and team-building workshops for leaders and other professionals. She sits on a few Boards of Directors and is involved in several community initiatives. Committed to personal growth, Bernadette constantly seeks ways to expand her knowledge. She has traveled extensively in her personal life (100+ countries) and as a diplomat, learning about cultures, history, art and music. She and her family live just outside Toronto.
