Part 1

In this seminar we will explore how to evaluate conflict management systems by taking a new look at conflict and its relationship with trauma. We will apply six trauma informed principles to our conflict management systems analysis and design. We will learn about the relationship between trauma, fairness and conflict. We will seek to answer some crucial questions, like:

  • how does our misunderstanding of conflict lead to systems that cause more harm than good?
    how do we reduce the risk that our conflict management will cause harm?
    how do we balance legislative and business requirements with good conflict management?

Blaine Donais is a labour lawyer, mediator, investigator, author and professor of workplace conflict management. As Founder of the Workplace Fairness International his goal is to contribute to the success of organizations by encouraging fairness, efficiency, productivity and engagement. He takes press inquiries on a number of topics related to the workplace and authors books, reports and articles on workplace conflict management and fairness. His Testing Instrument for Fairness Systems (TIFFS) has been used in over 200 workplaces to help analyze the strength of their conflict management systems.
