Featured Themes for March 1st Meeting:

Topic: GoodLife Fitness' Culture Journey: Matching Culture to Strategy and Redefining Hiring for Fit

With over one million members, more than 320 clubs across the country, and over 13,000 employees, GoodLife Fitness is Canada's largest and most successful fitness company.

In this session, Alana Free, VP People and Culture, will discuss how the company’s culture has contributed to its success. She will also share key learnings from the challenge of running two brands – GoodLife Fitness and the value-oriented chain Fit for Less – and how both cultures share a common core but also notable differences.

Finally, she will discuss the idea of "hiring for fit" and how to align this with a commitment to diversity – a commitment illustrated in Goodlife’s upcoming profile in the new TV series Employable Me.

Presenter:

Alana Free, Vice President, People and Culture, GoodLife Fitness

Topic: People, Technology, HR and Change

Today, HR is in an unprecedented position: as people management practices evolve, technological advancements leap forward rapidly, and organizations undergo transformational change to keep pace, HR is sitting at the intersection of all these factors.

Not only do we have the ultimate front-row seat to these paradigm shifts to the way we think about work – we also have the unique opportunity to shape those changes. In this session, David Heather, VP of HR at ADP will present a case study on how ADP is doing just that by embracing technology as an enabler, and creating new opportunities for the people side of the business.

Presenter:

David Heather, Vice President, Human Resources, ADP

Topic: Moving beyond engagement: A closer look at the employee experience

HR-led employee surveys have transitioned from employee satisfaction to employee engagement over the years. Though methodology has evolved, the hard truth is that at their core, employee engagement programs are designed to benefit the organization and may not tell the whole story of the employee experience at work.

A more comprehensive or holistic approach where both employees and the company benefit is one where engagement and the employee experience go hand in hand.

Join Stephanie Hardman, Chief People Officer at McDonald’s Canada, to discover the work they have initiated to drive culture and performance in a large service-sector workforce.

Presenter:

Stephanie Hardman, Chief People Officer, McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada Ltd.

Space is limited to 28 attendees.
