TOPIC: Tension, Disagreement, Conflict and Team Restoration – What Can HR Do When Teams aren’t at Their Best?

It is estimated that workplace conflict costs Canadian organizations more than 2B dollars a year. While the visible costs for investigations and conflict management are high, the real burden comes from lost productivity. Communication is fraught, relationships are frayed, and effectiveness suffers.

HR practitioners are often trained to investigate and respond to violations of workplace policies harassment, discrimination, bullying, and psychological health but incivility and workplace tensions are often more insidious, harder to pinpoint, and more challenging to address. Even though these issues can fester and create suboptimal performance, many HR practitioners feel ill equipped to address these concerns.

In this informative session, you’ll hear from a seasoned HR practitioner and experienced organizational development strategist who specializes in working with teams and leaders during time of change and upheaval. She’ll share how she supports teams when tension is running high and her approach to team restorations and coaching as an internal practitioner. She’ll also share the learning journey and career paths for people who are interested in these specialized areas of HR.
