Speaker bio(s)
Kristin McCartney, CHRP, Director of People & Culture

Kristin McCartney, CHRP, is the head of human resources at J.L. Richards & Associates Limited (JLR), a consulting engineering, architecture, and planning firm based out of Ottawa. Kristin has more than 15 years of experience in HR, focusing on compensation management, leadership consultancy, and strategic innovation in the group insurance and engineering industries. Kristin has directed the creation of initiatives that aim to support talent and culture, including a formal career mentorship program, wellness campaigns, and leadership development programming. She currently serves as the co-chair of JLR’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, spearheading new programs targeted toward the progression of equity-deserving groups, with a special focus on women’s issues in a historically male-occupied field. Kristin is a founding member of the HERizon Project, a community of practice for HR professionals crafting DEI focused policies together. She also serves on a regulatory committee for the HRPA which guides the development of exam material for new HR professionals with a lens on the changing landscape of the laws and trends of the profession.
