This presentation covers the basics of constructive dismissals, and more specifically, how the current times of the pandemic and some of the common actions taken by employers and HR professionals may inadvertently lead to constructive dismissal claims. This presentation allows HR professionals to understand how to best structure agreements and company policies to lower the chances of constructive dismissals claims. Understanding how constructive dismissals work allows companies to be proactive in their practices, lower their risk of liability, and improve morale by ensuring that dismissal processes are fair.

Christopher Achkar

Christopher Achkar is the founder and principal at Achkar Law, a law firm advising on all labour, employment, and human rights law issues. Along with his team of lawyers, Christopher advises employers of all sizes on all workplace related issues, including civil litigation, human resources advice, and human rights issues. Christopher is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Advocates’ Society, Toronto Lawyers Association, Ontario Bar Association and Canadian Bar Association. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association’s – Labour and Employment Section. Christopher volunteers with Pro Bono Ontario and sits on the board of directors of various non-profit organization and charities.
