So you want to be an evidence-based HR practitioner? Join this in-person event with speaker Peter Hausdorf to learn more about the promise and perils of evidence-based management!
Organizational decision-makers and HR practitioners are increasingly being required to provide evidence to support their decisions. This trend has excited HR researchers who historically have lamented the absence of research evidence to support HR practices. As a result, the term evidence-based management has emerged to support effective decision-making by integrating critical thinking with the best available evidence. This presentation will define evidence and the different aspects of information that constitute it. It will identify the pros and cons of using evidence in HR decision-making as well as the optimal conditions for this approach. Case examples of the effective use of evidence in HR will focus on hiring, training, and organizational change. A step-by-step guide for effectively using evidence in HR practices will be provided as well as resources to support finding evidence.
Note: A voluntary survey will be distributed prior to the presentation on a topic of interest to HR managers. Participation in the survey would be appreciated and a summary of the survey results will be shared with those HR managers who participate in the research.
