Sourcing, attracting and hiring skilled and critical talent has consistently been a top worry for global CEOs and C-Suite executives. Across industries, sectors and among businesses of all sizes, there is virtually no other HR specialty as constant and ever present as recruitment. Most, if not all, HR professionals will be required to undertake recruitment activities during their career.

The fundamentals of recruitment are well documented and well known, but with this critical function being foundational for the success of  organizations, HR must enhance its skill and competence at managing full spectrum recruitment. Kristina Tierney, CHRP, CHRL, Vice-President, HR and Learning

Kris Tierney is the Vice-President of Human Resources and Learning at the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA), Ontario’s regulator of the Human Resources profession. In her role, she provides strategic leadership to the Association’s professional development and learning programming for the HRPA’s more than 24,000 students and members; as well as serving as a member of the executive leadership team providing expertise in the areas of people, culture and HR strategy.

Kris is a passionate HR and business executive who believes that outstanding businesses run on outstanding workplaces where people and culture are strategic priorities. Kris spent more than 15 years’ leading HR and strategic talent programs in high growth, tech companies in automotive and financial services where she served as a trusted people and culture strategist, advisor and business partner to the C-Suite.

Known for her easy and approachable style, she thrives when helping others live their lives with purpose, belonging and value, and is a sought-after speaker and HR, culture and leadership expert. Kris holds the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) and Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designations as awarded by the HRPA.


Diane Biesinger, CHRP, Manager, People & Culture

Diane Biesinger has more than 20 years of experience in HR and has enjoyed working in a wide range of industries from startups to Fortune 100 companies. Diane holds the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation as awarded by the HRPA. She currently brings her passion for HR to the role of HR & Learning Specialist at the HRPA, where her focus runs the range of the workplace experience for all HRPA employees, “keeping the lights on in HR” and delivering on the association’s strategic initiatives.

Diane is proud that HRPA has been certified as a Great Place to Work by GPTW Canada for the last four years and is looking forward to having that continue and improve. Prior to joining HRPA, she spent six years in the telecommunications space working with companies such as Bell and Rogers, as Director of HR. She is passionate about IDEA (inclusivity, diversity, equity, accessibility) and supporting leaders and staff to promote organizational objectives. Diane likes to bring her whole self to work and is enthusiastic about relationships as she brings a genuine love of people, especially our differences, to her daily interactions.
