Alan McCallum, Partner at Poonam Law, will provide a practical, legally grounded overview of accommodating neurodivergent employees in Ontario workplaces. Members will receive actionable guidance on meeting accommodation obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code, including the duty to accommodate and undue hardship, effective accommodation strategies for common neurodivergent conditions, managing performance while fulfilling legal obligations, medical documentation and privacy considerations, and practical lessons drawn from Ontario case law and workplace experience.

Alan McCallum, Partner

Alan McCallum is a labour and employment lawyer based in PooranLaw’s Toronto office. Alan Joined PooranLaw in 2019 and has developed a practice dedicated to advising employers in the disability, health, and social services sectors in relation to a wide range of labour, employment, and human rights law matters. Alan prides himself in taking a client-centred approach to the practice of law, and providing legal solutions and human resources advice that fits the unique needs of each client he represents. He is deeply passionate about the areas he practices in, and approaches issues with creativity, initiative, and dedication. Alan is also invested in accessibly teaching employment law to non-legal audiences. He has taught college-level introductory courses in the subject for occupational health and safety workers. He also appears regularly as a contributing member of PooranLaw’s biweekly HR Update presentation series, where he regularly provides human resource updates to the sectors he supports.
