Speaker bio(s)
Sundeep  Gokhale

Sundeep is a highly accomplished lawyer whose practice is focused on the representation of management in many areas of employment and labour law with particular emphasis on labour relations, positive employee relations, collective bargaining, employment law, human rights and accommodation, and responding to union organizing and applications for certification.

Sundeep is frequently asked to speak at industry conferences and lead webinars on a variety of topics related to his practice. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, Ontario Bar Association (Labour & Employment, Construction Law, Civil Litigation, Constitutional, Civil Liberties, Human Rights, Young Lawyers), South Asian Bar Association (Toronto Chapter) and the Law Society of Upper Canada. He volunteers his time to Ovarian Cancer Canada and has taught employment and labour law at Conestoga College.

Sundeep is a graduate of the University of Windsor Law School, having obtained his Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree (Labour Studies) from McMaster University. Sundeep was a summer and articling student with Sherrard Kuzz LLP.


Herbert Law

Herbert joined us in 2005 after earning academic prizes in Labour, Human Rights, Constitutional, Administrative and Equality Rights Law classes while at Queen’s Law. Prior to entering law school, he was a Senior Analyst at a public sector employers’ association that provided labour relations and human resources services to over a hundred social service employers. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of MCIS and was a past member of the Board of Directors for CultureLink, a non-profit agency that facilitates the settlement of new immigrants in Toronto.

Herbert acts on behalf of a diversified list of employers, with a particular focus on the construction industry as well as municipalities, long-term care and social services. He handles all labour relations matters from collective bargaining to grievance arbitration, and has developed expertise in the increasingly relevant areas of pensions and immigration.


Bonny Mak Waterfall, Lawyer, Labour & Employment

Bonny Mak Waterfall is a senior associate in Fasken Martineau's Labour and Employment Law group in Toronto. She practices employer-side labour, employment and human rights law with a focus on workplace audits, employment standards, and union organizing and certification. Bonny has worked with both unionized and non-unionized employers in various industry sectors including airlines, transportation and logistics, manufacturing, telecommunications, retirement and nursing homes, health care and hospitality.

Bonny has a special interest in workplace legal compliance audits, including matters such as overtime pay, employee classification, hours of work, and recruitment and selection practices. She has developed customized audit tools, conducted risk assessments, and worked with clients to implement practical, defensible compliance strategies to address potential compliance issues and mitigate potential liability. In addition, Bonny provides legal advice to employers in all aspects of the employment relationship including hiring, employment agreements, performance management, discipline and termination, severance packages, employment policies, disability and attendance management, human rights and accommodation.
