Speaker bio(s)
Dorian Persaud, Lawyer

Dorian is a respected employment lawyer whose practice is focused on providing creative solutions for employers and employees. Prior to practicing employment law, he obtained a bachelor of commerce degree, worked in wealth management and government, and studied theology. His diverse life experience and education have uniquely prepared him to solve the problems of today’s workplace.

Prior to starting his own practice, Dorian was an associate with a prominent employment law boutique in Toronto and a labour and employment law firm in Northern Ontario where he worked on a number of restructurings for employers in the forestry industry and public sector.

Dorian provides counsel to employers and employees on all areas of employment law, including employment contracts, wrongful dismissals, workplace policies, workplace investigations and human rights in the workplace.

Dorian has written and published a number of articles on employment and human rights law and currently sits on the Board of Governors for Knox College, University of Toronto.


Mary Porjes

Mary brings more than 30 years’ experience to her practice of employment law, acting for both employers and employees with emphasis on the senior management and executive level. She has extensive experience advising executives and senior employees on employment contracts, termination arrangements, exit strategies, constructive dismissal, and sexual harassment claims.

Mary has also advised employers on issues relating to dismissals, employment contracts, corporate restructuring and downsizings, human rights and discrimination claims, employment standards, and workplace policies. She has worked as an independent investigator in sexual harassment and discrimination matters.

Mary is a frequent speaker at seminars for lawyers, executives, human resource and relocation professionals and client groups on a wide range of workplace issues. She has written numerous papers on legal and practical aspects of employment law.
