Speaker bio(s)
Jodi Martin

Jodi Martin is a partner at Paliare Roland Rosenberg Rothstein LLP. Her practice focuses on union-side labour law, employment disputes, human rights, and public and administrative law. Jodi acts for unions and associations at grievance arbitrations, mediations and before the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and the Ontario Labour Relations Board. She has a particular interest in judicial reviews and appeals, and has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario and the Supreme Court of Canada.


Jodi regularly speaks at conferences and provides continuing legal education to other lawyers and organizations on a range or issues including administrative and public law, human rights, and the duty to accommodate.


Jodi graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School, and was the recipient of several awards for outstanding academic achievement. Prior to law school Jodi completed a Master of Arts in Anthropology at the University of Western Ontario. Jodi is a member of the Canadian Association of Labour Lawyers, the Advocates’ Society and the Toronto Lawyers Association.



Jeff Mitchell

Jeff represents public and private sector employers in the areas of employment and labour relations law, human rights and occupational health and safety. Jeff drafts employment contracts for his non-union clients, including non-competition, non-solicitation and confidentiality agreements. Jeff has extensive experience advising clients on the labour and employment issues arising on the sale or acquisition of a business. He advises his unionized clients on collective agreements – including bargaining strategy, drafting, administration and grievance handling. He also acts as primary spokesperson in collective bargaining. He regularly represents employers in employment and labour-related litigation before the Courts such as wrongful dismissal claims and injunction proceedings, as well as appearing before administrative tribunals, including at arbitration, at the Ontario Labour Relations Board and at the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.

Jeff was an adjunct professor of Labour Law at the University of Toronto between 2001 and 2011. He is recognized by Best Lawyers in Canada as one of Canada’s leading lawyers in the area of Labour and Employment law.


Christine Thomlinson, Partner

Toronto Employment Lawyer Christine Thomlinson is a trusted advisor to senior human resource professionals who recognize employees as an integral part of their business. Her clients understand the need to manage their workplaces effectively, and they look to Christine for counsel on maintaining the employee relationships that support their organization’s business objectives.

Daniel Wong, Lawyer

Daniel advises employers on all aspects of employment and labour relations including employee hiring and terminations, employment standards compliance, unfair practice and human rights complaints and the development and execution of initiatives and policies. He represents employers before the courts on wrongful dismissal and provincial offence matters, and before various administrative tribunals on rights arbitration, employment standards issues, human rights complaints, occupational health and safety investigations and workers’ compensation appeals.

Daniel also conducts HR and employment audits on behalf of employers to ensure compliance with applicable laws and employer best practices.

Prior to joining Osler, Daniel articled and practiced at a large management-side boutique firm and was also Employment Counsel and Privacy Manager at McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada. He is a presenter at conferences and training seminars, and has also delivered guest lectures at York University in the areas of employment and labour law.

Daniel is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care.
