Quinte and District: 03.11.2020 Behavioural Interviewing Training

This session is designed to give you and your organization the ability to make right hiring decision, avoiding costly and potentially legal mistakes. You will take away proven competency and behavioural based interviewing techniques that allow you to begin or refresh the way you currently recruit, select and retain your staff.

In the past, traditional interviewing has emphasized on what job must be done. Behavioural interviewing focuses on the person’s competencies and behaviour to fit the job and the organization. Behavioural interviewing, when approached properly, reduces the chance of discrimination or bias. This technique offers a higher return on investment, is more legally defensible than other types of interviewing and is successful in matching the candidate with the job and company culture thus reducing turn-over and increasing overall job satisfaction and moral.

By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Quickly screen applications and resumes – saving precious time
  • Prepare effective behavioural interviewing questions – for your organization and the position
  • Instill confidence in the recruiters’ and hiring managers interviewing skills – make the right hiring and promotion decisions
  • Set the interview process up correctly the first time – reducing the chances of a bad hiring decision or losing the right candidate
  • Understand the foundation behind behavioural and value-based interviewing – and how this critical process is used when bringing on new people
  • Gain an understanding in what drives peak performance and motivation – increasing employment retention
  • Understand benchmarking, behavioural selection and behavioural interpretation
  • Learn how to develop a “Competency Profile” for each job and successful candidate
  • Quickly find hidden qualities that show you have a great candidate
  • Spot characteristics that could cause you problems down the road
  • In 6 steps- change existing predictable and overly-structured questions into effective, fresh and powerful fact-finding questions.
