HR has the ability to create influence and contribute to the business success. In order to do that, we need to remain current and our advice and guidance must be relevant…and we can’t do that alone. It is imperative that HR practitioners have a vast network, not only internally but cross functional, across industries, and across geographies. We have to be aware of best practices, industry trends and legislative changes that affect our organizations so that we attract a pipeline of talent, remain compliant and ensure that leaders have the information they need to be an employer of choice. That knowledge comes from surrounding ourselves with the right people and having access to the right information. Understanding the benefits of networking, knowing how to network effectively and having the self-confidence to engage in this ongoing activity is critical. When HR is visible and well connected and we acknowledge that networking is an essential competency, we increase our value.
Learning Outcomes:
- the benefits of a broader network of business connections and resources;
- barriers of professional networking;
- a structured approach to expanding your professional network
- practical tools and techniques for engaging in professional networking activities both virtually and in person
