Overview: Often times, employers are tasked with managing a small number employees who are responsible for a disproportionate share of issues within the workplace. This presentation will help equip HR professionals with the tools to effectively manage these employees, and to help reduce a company's legal liability in the event the employment relationship deteriorates.

Learning Objectives

Participants will better understand how to manage challenging employee relations issues, adhere to best practices for levying discipline, and gain insight into how to strategize against potential claims.


Speaker bio(s)
Nathaniel Marshall

Nathaniel practices in all areas of employment and labour law, regularly advising on workplace investigations, employment contracts, human rights issues, occupational health and safety, terminations, wrongful dismissals and workplace policies. Nathaniel is an experienced advocate and has represented clients at grievance arbitrations, during collective bargaining, as well as in various proceedings before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Labour Relations Board, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal. He has also appeared before a variety of other administrative tribunals. Nathaniel received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (Dean’s List) and J.D. from Dalhousie University, where he was a member of the Indigenous Blacks and Mi’Kmaq initiative. Prior to joining Turnpenney Milne LLP, Nathaniel practiced at a prominent national law firm and a boutique management-side firm in Toronto. In his spare time, Nathaniel enjoys traveling, cooking, reading, and participating in a variety of fitness activities.
