Chatham-Kent: 10.22.20 VIRTUAL Job Evaluations 


This 90 minute session focuses on job evaluation and will discuss why job analysis, and evaluation of jobs for skill, effort, responsibility and working conditions is foundational to many HR functions.

The first part of the event will be an introduction to “what” is needed for a job evaluation tool/process to be fair and “how” job evaluation processes can work well. This will also include a high-level overview of best practices in job descriptions writing as well. The second part will provide mini-case studies that illustrate how job evaluation can be used to: Create grades that can be used for salary administration • Develop career pathing/identify areas of interest from an organizational design perspective • Comply with legislation (e.g., Ontario’s Pay Equity Act) • Equity analysis/diversity & inclusion diagnostics • Link to competencies. The third part will be a 30 minute open Q&A for members continued learning.

Speaker bio(s)
Deirdre Chong Smith, CHRP, CHRL, Principal consultant

Deirdre Chong Smith, CHRL is a consultant in Korn Ferry's advisory services division based in Toronto, Canada. She works with clients on various projects related to reward programs and specializes in the interpretation of compensation information to provide solutions for compensation related issues, pay equity compliance, job evaluation and compensation framework design. In addition, she works with organizations from a diversity and inclusion perspective. She seeks to add value by providing insight to support clients’ business decisions.


Kim Stewart, Consultant

Kim has been in the Consulting field for over 25 years. She holds an Honors Bachelor Degree from the University of Western Ontario and a Masters of Business Administration in International Business from European University in Belgium. Prior to joining Korn Ferry Hay Group, Kim worked as a design consultant with an organization specializing in performance technology and training and development. She is bilingual in English and French.
