Employers often need foreign talent, whether from their own foreign affiliates, or from outside their organization. Further, the Canadian immigration system has undergone, and continues to undergo, significant changes over time, which HR personnel need to be aware of in order to effectively achieve their goals.
In addition to the already complex and ever-changing system as set out above, COVID of course added a whole new layer. COVID-related entry regulations have changed significantly since March 2020, and continue to change.
This webinar discusses the practical aspects of bringing/transferring foreign workers to Canada, taking COVID issues into account, as well as stringent ongoing compliance requirements. Specific issues include LMIA considerations, LMIA exemptions, NAFTA and other international instruments, Intra-Company Transfers, and many other substantive issues, and again, the impact of COVID. Within these topics are changes that can greatly impact a corporation’s immigration requirements – such issues include the new Global Talent Stream, new treaties including CETA and the CPTPP, and changes to laws that will impact inadmissibility.
Attendees will leave with an understanding of the ‘big picture’ flow of the immigration system, as well as an understanding of the nuanced issues within the system that can make or break an application – along with strategies on how to overcome the obstacles. They will also be guided as to the implications of COVID, for both vaccinated, and unvaccinated foreign nationals.
This program will be of value to HR professionals at all levels, and will provide attendees with the tools they need to ensure that their organization can meet its ongoing immigration needs.
