Delivering effective positive feedback is an under-appreciated skills in the workplace. When we typically think about feedback in the workplace, it's often in the context of performance improvement and gaps that need to be corrected. Yet the research demonstrates that negative feedback can undermine trust in one's manager and decrease feedback seeking behaviour, resulting in even poorer performance Overall, about one-third of feedback interventions have a neutral to detrimental impact on behaviour. Positive feedback, however, has the potential to improve both task performance and relationship outcomes. While managers might think they are delivering positive feedback, it's often limited to general praise like "good job" that leaves high-performing employees feeling empty and unappreciated. This session will share what effective positive feedback could look like and when and how to use it in the workplace to increase engagement and trust.

Participants will learn:

  • What is effective positive feedback
  • When and how to leverage it
  • Why positive feedback is beneficial in the workplace for managers and employee
