Many disabilities are not visible. We've all had times when we're just not sure whether one of our employees is struggling with a disability or if they simply have performance issues. Do you say something or just wait until they bring it up? And if you do say something, how should you approach it without violating their privacy? Learn how to navigate the tricky situations that arise when dealing with employees with hidden disabilities. Examine the types of hidden disabilities that may impact someone at work, such as alcoholism, learning disabilities, PTSD and other mental health issues.
Learning Objectives:
- Know how to manage the workplace issues that arise, such as addressing stigma and resentment
- Gain knowledge on how to be part of the solution
- Understand your procedural duty to accommodate
- Learn how to open the conversation, including those times when the employees themselves may not recognize their problem
