This session delves into the array of data available for compensation reviews and provides guidance on how build as valid a market assessment as possible; facing a virtual world full of information and disinformation.

The session will also delve into how to determine where a total rewards dollars may be best spent, touching on overall total rewards design considering pay, pay for performance, benefits, perquisites or other allowances.

NOTE: "Compensation Reviews: Data & Decision" making was created as a follow up to "Step-by-Step Methodology for Compensation Reviews." While the previous Power Lunch content is not required to attend this Power Lunch, the pre-planning and intent of compensation reviews should not be skipped when you apply your expertise in the field!

Learning Objectives

Focusing on deepening HR practitioner skills in assessment of "market", the session will develop critical analysis skills to assess market data sources and provide common approaches to data aggregation.  Understanding peer groups, market samples, data skew, pay disclosures, and typical aggregation techniques will be reviewed.

With emergence of pay transparency, and continued application of pay equity legislation, participants will be provided with clear compliance checklists to determine their own organization's compliance with legislation and learn about good compensation governance practices that support ongoing compliance.

Going beyond legal compliance, practitioners will also be provided with methods of using compensation analysis as a diagnostic tool to assess equity within organizations.  Linking this back to compensation, practitioners will also then be able to discuss findings to assess where inequities may be formed in organizations and how they could be corrected.
