Toronto 04.27.21 VIRTUAL Dealing with Racist l Anti-Masker l Anti-Vaxxer Employees

Christopher Achkar of Achkar Law will discuss how the rise in some right-wing ideologies rekindled some of the fires of intolerance. Political and social discourse, under the guise of freedom of speech, are real topics employers have to deal with at the workplace. From antivaxxers
to outright racist employees, employers are having to mediate, litigate, or take
corrective action against their employees about these topics.

This presentation will cover
  • What are employer obligations in such circumstances?
  • Can these situations amount to just cause?
  • What kind of corrective action is appropriate?
  • How do you manage your workplace in an environment that doesn't penalize thought?
