As an HR Professional, you are at the front-line of your organization’s workplace mental health and wellness programs and strategies.

Whether that is processing stress leaves, bringing in training and workshops, managing sick leave policy, or ensuring that you have got the right blend of supports and benefits, HR Professionals at all levels are taking on the lion’s share of workplace mental health and wellness.

Mental Health Skills Training: a Certificate Program for HR Professionals is designed to bridge that gap for HR Professionals at all levels and designations. This six-module, cohort based program will give you the knowledge and confidence to navigate conversations about mental health in the workplace, while also considering legal & ethical implications. We will l  focus on compassionate leadership, and energy management plus  burnout prevention for HR Professionals in supporting employees in their organizations

This certificate program is designed for HR Professionals who are looking to support their organization and their employees to build a workplace where everyone’s mental health can thrive. Whether you’re taking your first steps into workplace mental health, or you have been wrestling with this for a while, this program will help you approach workplace mental health and wellness with confidence and expertise.

Learning Objectives

  • Conversation starters, making it easier to initiate mental health conversations in the workplace
  • Demonstrate skill in active, mindful listening practices
  • Build understanding and connect the Canadian Standard for Psychological Health & Safety and its tools within individual workplaces
  • Build awareness and familiarity with current legislation and consider the moral, ethical and legal considerations of decision making
  • Build compassion as a skill and leverage this character strength as a tool for business-focused, people-centered decisions
  • Build understanding of the impacts of rest and physical well-being on our work and explore strategies for managing high workload
  • Practice embedding learned theory and skills with small group work and discussions

Brandy Payne helps leaders and their teams extinguish burnout, bolster well-being, and build a workplace where everyone’s mental health can thrive.

Brandy gives individuals the tools and skills they need to look after their own mental well-being and helps leaders & managers to lead in a way that fosters a healthy workplace culture, while reducing or eliminating the underlying (and often unintentional!) factors that undermine mental wellness at work.

Brandy has worked with corporations, non-profit/social-profit agencies and government departments of various sizes, and is focused on meeting her Clients where they are at with tailor-made advice, strategies and solutions.

A CMHA-Certified Psychological Health & Safety Advisor, and former Associate Minister of Health in Alberta (responsible for Mental Health & Substance Use), Brandy draws on a combination of scientific research, best practices, and lived experience to help individuals and organizations.


Lindsay Recknell

As the president & CEO of Paradigm Corporate Wellness Inc, Lindsay Recknell closes the skill gap for professionals, upleveling their careers by teaching them the mental health skills they need to know to feel knowledgeable and confident about mental health at work.

A CMHA-Certified Psychological Health & Safety Advisor, Lindsay works with Leaders & HR Professionals to give them the language to know what to say about mental health at work, how to help while considering the moral, ethical and legal considerations and how to make mental health-related decisions in the best interest of the company, their individual teams and, most importantly, themselves.

She also has a bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurial Leadership and has started and grown four entrepreneurial businesses in the last 12 years. With 15+ years of experience in facilitation, speaking, leadership development, podcasting, and content creation, Lindsay ensures all content meets her exacting standards and is designed to engage and educate in the most impactful ways possible.
