Return-to-work can be a complex process, with many different potential challenges. It's essential that the professionals handling the return-to-work process have a thorough understating of all the issues that impact the process.

This course explains the process involved in setting up individualized return to work plans for employees who become ill or injured, including considerations for accommodations, barriers that might exist, identifying the key stakeholders involved in the return to work process, both internal and external to the organization, as well as the roles and responsibilities of each of the stakeholders.

 Learning objectives:

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the steps in the return to work process.
  • Describe the types of accommodations that might be required in returning an employee to work.
  • Outline the hierarchy of return to work options.
  • Identify barriers that might decrease the likelihood of a return to work.
  • Describe the various roles of members of the return to work team.

Who should attend?

The target audience for the course are those who are tasked with the responsibility related to the workforce such as Human Resources, Disability Management / Return to Work practitioners, Health personnel, Occupational Health and Safety, Claims / Benefit plan administrators.

How it works:

Each offering takes place over the course of one week, requiring participants to read the course manual, participate in the online discussion forum on at least four or five days during the course of the week, and complete and submit an assignment.
