Jason Beattie, Recruitment Consultant, Retail and Small Business Banking, Scotiabank.

Jason is a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) with 10 years of experience in recruitment split between both the agency and corporate environments. He currently works with a diverse team of professionals dedicated to attracting and hiring the best talent for Scotiabank’s many opportunities. Prior to Scotiabank, Jason worked as an Employment Counsellor assisting Internationally Trained Professionals at a non-profit immigration/settlement agency in Hamilton where he facilitated workshops, provided one-on-one career counselling, and liaised with post-secondary schools, licensing bodies, and employers in an effort to enhance the opportunities for new comers to find meaningful employment in Canada.

Louie Di Palma, Director- SME Programs & Global Growth Fund

As the Director of SME Programs, Louie is responsible for developing and implementing initiatives of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce that are designed to strengthen the business climate of Ontario and support our members by providing them with access to resources. During his career with the Government of Ontario, Louie held a number of senior management positions in policy, planning and direct operations with several Ministries including the Ministry of the Solicitor General and Correctional Services, the Ministry of Tourism and Recreation and the Ministry of Health Promotion.

Mark Patterson, Executive Director, Magnet & Hire Immigrants

Mark Patterson is a change maker in career development, economic development and workforce development fields. He is the Executive Director of Magnet, a new network powered by data-rich, job-matching technology that connects jobseekers with employers based upon skills, preferences and talent needs. Under Mark’s leadership, Magnet has become a network of over 80,000 individuals, 31 post-secondary educational institutions, 180 labour and community-based organizations and over 8,000 employers. The features of Magnet enable employers to prioritize diversity recruiting and target under-represented groups and has been credited for reducing early stage hiring bias. Mark has recently assumed the executive leadership role for the Hire Immigrants program and aims to strengthen the partnership between both organizations, to advance the employment outcomes for immigrants.
