Michael Smyth

Michael Smyth is an employment and labour lawyer in Hicks Morley’s Toronto office. He has nearly 30 years of experience advising employers on matters related to grievances and arbitrations, discipline and terminations, human rights issues and complaints, certification applications, corporate restructuring, collective bargaining and employment contracts. Michael regularly represents federally and provincially regulated employers in the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors. He acts as lead spokesperson in collective bargaining on behalf of employers and provides ongoing advice regarding collective agreement administration and representation at arbitration and before the Ontario Labour Relations Board. Michael advises employers on a full range of labour and employment law matters including restructurings, sales of business, employment agreement drafting, wrongful dismissals and issues arising under the Employment Standards Act, 2000 and the Ontario Human Rights Code.


Rebecca Lui

Rebecca Liu is a labour and employment lawyer in Hicks Morley’s Toronto office. She represents employers in grievance arbitrations, human rights complaints, wrongful dismissal claims, employment standards complaints and employment contract disputes. Rebecca regularly appears before labour arbitrators, the Ontario Labour Relations Board, the Human Rights Tribunal, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Court of Appeal for Ontario and the Federal Court. She also reviews and revises clients’ internal policies, handbooks and workplace contracts and provides practical and strategic advice on a wide range of labour and employment issues.


Michael Jaworski

Michael Jaworski is a labour and employment lawyer in Hicks Morley’s Toronto office. He provides advice and representation to employers and management in both the private and public sectors on a wide range of labour, employment and human rights issues including grievance arbitrations, collective bargaining, labour disputes, occupational health and safety, employment standards and litigation matters. Michael joined Hicks Morley’s Waterloo office as an associate in 2020 after previously completing his articles with the firm. Michael received his Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto. While in law school, Michael served as co-president of the University of Toronto Labour and Employment Law Society where he worked to expose first-year law students to labour and employment law. Michael also helped lead the University of Toronto to a first-place finish at the Cassels Brock Cup moot. Before attending law school, Michael received an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from Western University, where he graduated with distinction


Danika Winkel

Danika Winkel is a labour and employment lawyer in Hicks Morley’s Toronto office. She provides advice and representation to employers and management in both the private and public sectors on a wide range of labour, employment and human rights issues including grievance arbitrations, collective bargaining, labour disputes, occupational health and safety, human rights and accommodation and employment standards. Danika received her Juris Doctor from Queen’s University, graduating on the Dean’s List. During her time at Queen’s, she travelled to England to complete an International Public Law certification and was selected as a panelist at the Queen’s Feminist Legal Studies Conference. Danika also worked at the Queen’s Legal Aid Clinic, representing clients in employment and other contract disputes. Prior to law school, Danika received a Bachelor of Arts degree (Honours with Distinction) from Queen’s. Outside of the office, Danika is a competitive distance runner and member of a local run club, competing in both road and trail races.


Jordynne Hislop

Jordynne Hislop is a labour and employment lawyer at Hicks Morley’s Toronto office. She provides advice and representation to employers and management in both the private and public sectors on a wide range of labour, employment and human rights issues. This includes grievance arbitrations, collective bargaining, wrongful dismissal actions, human rights and accommodation and employment standards complaints. Jordynne received her Juris Doctor from the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law at Lakehead University. During law school, she was active in student life. Jordynne acted as the first-year representative and president of the Law Students’ Association, worked at the Lakehead Legal Clinic and represented her class at convocation as valedictorian. Jordynne was an active volunteer with the Ontario Justice Education Network and the Lakehead Law Journal, serving as managing editor in her final year of study. Prior to law school, Jordynne received a Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies with a specialization in human resource management at Western University. Jordynne summered and articled with the firm before returning as an associate in 2021.
