The legal landscape is adjusting faster than you can say “wrongful dismissal!” Employers are working to adapt to changes in the law, while looking for best practices where the law is silent. Join us as we review another year of employment law developments looking forward to 2024.

Learning Objectives:

  • Updates and tips on constructive/wrongful dismissals and employment agreements.
  • Review of changes related to the Working for Workers Act.
  • Proposed changes to the ESA including disclosure of salary ranges.

Lauren Bernardi, Lawyer, HR Advisor

Lauren Bernardi founded Bernardi Human Resource Law in 1995 and epitomizes our slogan: forward thinking at work. Her goal was to provide proactive employment law and HR advisory services, and to always stay ahead of the curve. She has consistently met that mission ever since and is a highly regarded leader in the field of human resource law. Lauren works with employers in both the public and private sector. As a business owner herself, she understands the challenges of running an organization and managing a team. Lauren’s legal services include advising employers on legal and HR management issues including hiring, performance management, human rights, discipline and termination. A prolific writer, Lauren is the author of a leading book on workplace policies: “Powerful Employment Policies”. Lauren has also written numerous articles on human resource law for various business publications.


Suhaib  Ibrahim

Suhaib Ibrahim has conducted investigations for municipalities, Indigenous organizations, universities, unions, fire/police services and mid-size to large private companies. Suhaib believes that training is transformative and is the most beneficial part of his job. He has worked with police services and other organizations to develop and provide training on respectful workplaces and conducting investigations. He has been a trainer and speaker with the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA) on various topics, including a four-day investigations course.
