Originally funded by the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration and delivered by HRPA, the Certificate in Cultural Competency Training Program helps organizations become more culturally inclusive and provides strategies to effectively hire, on-board, train and retain culturally diverse candidates/newcomers to Canada.

Various techniques such as discussion, videos, PowerPoint presentation, statistical data and other methods may be used in this program in order to assist the learner.

One Invaluable Program. Two Training Options.


Option 1 will be in-class at the HRPA Learning Centre. HRPA Member price $395 per person

Non-member price: $475 per person

Option 2, the program will also continue to be offered in-house to organizations that want their line managers and HR staff to benefit from the program. HRPA will deliver the training at the organization's location to a max of 20 employees.

Speaker bio(s)
Daria Kowalyk, Consultant

Daria Kowalyk is recognized as a subject matter expert in the fields of diversity, inclusion and employment equity, with a broad understanding and appreciation of diverse audiences, communities and markets. Her experience includes strategy and program development and implementation, employee engagement, targeted recruiting strategies, educational tools, data analytics, measurement, and implementation of diversity-related legislation in Canada and in the U.S. Most recently, Daria was Director, Partner Support at the Canadian Institute of Diversity and Inclusion (CIDI) – a national not-for-profit organization focused on the broad spectrum of diversity. Before joining CIDI, she was the Senior Advisor, Diversity and Inclusion at Compass Group Canada and ESS North America, where, she served as a strategic partner and consultant to Sector presidents and managers across the company. She was responsible for driving the diversity strategy, including the development of all diversity-related programs and initiatives. Daria spent many years in the financial services sector – in BMO Financial Group and in CIBC – where she developed strategies and educational tools for the integration of diversity and inclusion principles into practice, in Canada and in the U.S. In particular, she developed and implemented strategies on the advancement of women and visible minorities.

A respected speaker, Daria has presented to a variety of audiences, including the Newcomer Organizations Network, the Human Resources Professional Association, the Purchasing Managers' Association of Canada, Out on Bay Street conference, and National Educational Association of Disabled Students. Daria holds an Honours BA from the University of Toronto, and is a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP). She is an active member of the Human Resources Professional Association.
