 In this session, Haider and Joseph will discuss DC retirement trends and what plan sponsors should be focusing on in the future to ensure their DC pension and savings plans stay not only competitive in the marketplace but also compliant. They will discuss the investment fund line-ups, decumulation options, the recent enhancement of the Canada Pension Plan, and the trend to DC plan outsourcing.

Haider Abdullah

Haider Abdullah is a Senior Associate in the Toronto office of Mercer’s Investment business. He is responsible for the delivery of services to clients, with a concentration on educating clients on various solutions we can help them with. His main focus is to help Mercer grow their footprint in the Canadian marketplace with respect to outsourcing and delegated solutions, as well as open doors to new clients with respect to all of Mercer’s core business solutions.

Prior to joining Mercer, Haider has spent over 9 years working in various capacities within the group retirement industry, from working as a Plan Sponsor, to managing client relationships with a larger insurer.

Haider earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Law and Psychology from Carleton University.


Joseph Bevilacqua

Joseph Bevilacqua is a Senior Associate in the Toronto office of Mercer’s Investment business. He is responsible for the delivery of services to clients, as well as working in a co-consulting capacity with senior DC consultants in the delivery of complex advice to large DC clients. Joseph’s main practice area is delivery of advice to a wide range of institutional clients on all DC aspects, including; investment monitoring, plan design, governance and benefit adequacy evaluation, selection of record keepers, ongoing monitoring of overall DC plan operations and fee competitiveness assessment.

Prior to joining Mercer, Joseph spent five years with a major insurance company where he was supporting defined DC plan sponsors with governance, plan administration, and member education.

Joseph earned a Bachelor of Commerce and Finance from the University of Toronto.
